Acupuncture promotes mind and body healing through balance. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to treat illnesses or dysfunctions of the body, mind, and spirit. TCM theory believes stagnation or obstruction of the flow of qi often leads to pain or disease. Acupuncture needles are used to stimulate and open up the energy at points in the body where qi flows. Acupuncture supports the body's ability to heal itself naturally. Acupuncture helps restore health, promote a healthy immune system, and prevent illness.

Sunrise Acupuncture Services Offered
Acupuncture and Electro-Acupuncture
Fire Cupping and Gua Sha
Fire Cupping and Gua Sha
Acupuncture, a therapeutic treatment, uses thin sterile needles strategically placed along meridian pathways and near painful regions to promote the flow of qi and fluids. The goal is to remove painful obstruction and balance organ systems for optimal health and function.
Electro-Acupuncture is a technique using electricity to stimulate the needles after insertion. The electrical stimulation enhances healing benefits and is especially useful for pain conditions and sensory deficits.
Fire Cupping and Gua Sha

Fire Cupping and Gua Sha
Fire Cupping, an ancient technique, improves blood flow to a localized area, alleviates muscular pain/tension and releases toxins from deep within soft tissues. This is accomplished by placing a special glass cup on the body to create suction.
Gua Sha, another ancient technique, improves blood flow to the area, lifts toxins and releases stagnant blood from deeper layers of the tissues using a special tool to stroke the body. This technique is often used for pain conditions, but also benefits organ functions and relieves stress.
Chinese Herbal Formulas and Nutritional Supplements

Chinese Herbal Formulas and Nutritional Supplements
Products from plant, animal or mineral sources, herbal formulas and nutritional supplements are helpful to promote healing and recovery from illness. Nutritional aspects of healing are addressed with a practitioner to customize a plan based on each person's needs. Using principles based on the therapeutic action of foods, the goal is to achieve and maintain a healthy digestive system for optimal health and prevention from illness.
Exercise Instruction and Movement Therapy

Chinese Herbal Formulas and Nutritional Supplements
Physical movement is necessary to maintain strength and function. Exercise promotes the flow of qi, blood and breath to harmonize organ function and enhance mental health. Whether you exercise to achieve/maintain healthy weight or to relieve tight muscles and painful joints, proper exercise selection and technique are important. At Sunrise Acupuncture, recommendations taken from a variety of disciplines (qi gong, tai chi, yoga, pilates, physical therapy) combine movement and breath to enhance your personal exercise experience, compliance and results.
Aromatherapy with Essential Oils
Exercise Instruction and Movement Therapy
Tuina Massage and Visceral Manipulation
Like acupuncture, aromatherapy has been around for thousands of years. Extracted oils from various plants, herbs, and flowers are used for healing purposes. Aromatherapy can be delivered via direct application to the skin, inhalation or internal consumption. All methods allow the oils to enter the body for physiological and psychological benefits. Combining aromatherapy with acupuncture can enhance many treatments. Sunrise Acupuncture only uses high quality, therapeutic grade oils with patient's permission.
Tuina Massage and Visceral Manipulation
Exercise Instruction and Movement Therapy
Tuina Massage and Visceral Manipulation
Healing hands manipulate muscles, joints and visceral organs to free restrictions and restore mobility. These manual techniques improve circulation and lymphatic drainage to benefit healing and function. Tui Na, a type of massage performed along energy channels of the body, moves and harmonizes the flow of qi throughout the body. Visceral Manipulation corrects imbalances of the body's systems, including musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive and lymphatic. Used in conjunction with acupuncture, these techniques enhance the body's ability to heal and function properly.
